What Happens When Your Trial or Subscription Ends

When your TestApp.io trial or subscription ends, your account transitions to the free plan automatically. This article explains exactly what happens to your apps, releases, team members, and integrations — and how to recover access if you need to.

Trial Period

Your trial lasts 14 days. During the final days, TestApp.io sends warning notifications 7 days and 3 days before the trial ends, along with in-app banners so you have time to subscribe. When the trial period expires, your team is automatically moved to the free plan.

What Happens When You Move to the Free Plan

Whether your trial ends or your subscription is cancelled, the same process applies when the free plan takes effect. Here is what happens to each part of your account:

Apps

Apps over the free plan's app limit are permanently deleted. This is irreversible. To see how many apps the free plan allows, check the pricing page. If you are approaching a limit, consider upgrading before your trial or billing period ends to avoid data loss.

Releases

Releases are queued for archival — they are not deleted immediately. Archival happens asynchronously in the background. While a release is being archived, its install link becomes inactive. Releases within your plan's limits remain accessible if you upgrade.

Team Members

Team members over the free plan's member limit are deactivated, not deleted. Their data and activity history are preserved. If you upgrade your plan, you can reactivate them and they regain full access.

Integrations

All integrations — including Jira, Linear, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and CI/CD webhooks — are disabled. They are not deleted. When you upgrade, you can re-enable them and your existing configuration is still there.

External Storage

Any connected external storage is deactivated (not deleted). It can be reconnected after upgrading.

Subscription Cancellation

If you cancel your subscription yourself, the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access to your plan's features until that date. When the billing period closes, the free plan is applied and the same process above runs.

Payment Failures

A failed payment is handled differently from a cancellation:

  • On the first failed payment, you receive an in-app notification showing the scheduled retry date.
  • TestApp.io automatically retries the payment, and you are notified at each attempt.
  • If all retry attempts fail, your team is suspended — your apps and data are preserved, but integrations and external storage are deactivated.
  • To reactivate: update your billing details in account settings. Everything restores automatically once payment succeeds.

Suspension from payment failure is fully reversible. No app data is deleted during suspension.

Recovering Access After Re-subscribing

What gets restored depends on how your account lapsed:

  • Suspended due to payment failure: Update your billing details and everything restores automatically — integrations, storage connections, and team members are all re-enabled.
  • Cancelled subscription: When you re-subscribe, data within your new plan's limits is restored. Apps that were deleted during the downgrade to the free plan are not recovered.

Summary

Here is a quick reference for what is preserved and what is at risk:

  • Apps within the free plan's limit — preserved
  • Apps over the free plan's limit — permanently deleted (irreversible)
  • Releases — archived (not deleted)
  • Team members over the limit — deactivated (not deleted; reactivate by upgrading)
  • Integrations — disabled (not deleted; re-enable by upgrading)
  • External storage — deactivated (not deleted)
  • Suspensions from payment failure — fully reversible
